Returning to Wake Forest Law: A Meaningful Conversation on Mental Health in the Legal Profession

February 18, 2025

I went back to my law school – first time since graduating in 2004! – for a board of directors meeting with North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) BarCARES. It was so good to be back and see some familiar faces. More importantly, the board meeting was really great – Wake Forest University School of Law law students attended and we had an important and interesting conversation about the stresses faced by law students, lawyers, professors, judges. The statistics confirm that this profession can be downright dangerous and bringing the challenges we all face out into the open is a big step in the right direction. Thank you to everyone who attended!

BarCARES is a confidential, short-term intervention program provided cost-free to members of participating judicial district bars, voluntary bar associations and law schools. If you would like additional information about the program and/or its availability in your area, please contact the BarCARES coordinator at 919.929.1227 or 1.800.640.0735 or visit www.barcares.org.
