Our Ongoing Commitment to Community

November 18, 2024

At McKnight Law, we believe in giving back to the community that has entrusted us with some of its most personal and sensitive legal matters. Our commitment extends beyond the courtroom as we dedicate our time and resources to initiatives that enhance access to justice and support our those in need.

Recognizing Pro Bono Service: Making Justice Accessible

We’re incredibly proud of MC Skinner and Lucas Helton, who have gone above and beyond to support the Wake County community through their pro bono efforts. By volunteering with the Wake County Bar Association/Tenth Judicial District Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Pro Bono Clinic and the Wake County Legal Support Center, they have provided essential legal guidance, case suggestions, and family law tips to individuals who might not otherwise have access to a lawyer.

The family court is often a hectic and overwhelming environment, and the case coordinators and staff work tirelessly to manage their responsibilities. Thanks to efforts like MC’s and Lucas’s, these volunteers help ease that burden while empowering members of our community with the tools and knowledge they need. We encourage anyone in the legal profession to consider volunteering – your time can make a meaningful difference for those navigating the justice system.

Supporting Legal Aid Through the Bar Awards

Community involvement takes many forms, and for us, it’s also about contributing to vital causes like Legal Aid of North Carolina. Recently, MC Skinner and Lucas Helton attended the annual Bar Awards, a longstanding tradition hosted by the Wake County Bar Association/Tenth Judicial District Bar. Over the years, this incredible event has raised over $1 million to support Legal Aid, providing critical resources to those who need it most.

McKnight Law has proudly sponsored the Bar Awards for the past seven years, and we were thrilled to see MC Skinner play an active role on the Bar Awards Committee this year. The event exemplifies the power of community collaboration and the positive impact the legal profession can have. If you’re inspired to contribute, consider making a donation to Legal Aid of North Carolina or getting involved with the Wake County Bar Association.
